Banana farms of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group cover over 7,000 hectares in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and 100% of the produce is exported to such markets as Japan, Korea, China, etc. Bananas of substandard weight and shape will be preliminarily processed and used as main ingredients in pig feed or fed directly to pigs. Every year, the amount of waste, rejected bananas enables HAGL to be proactive in material supply. Banana fed pigs are raised on clean food, free of toxic substances, thus making the meat fragrant, delicious, sweet, and rich in nutrients.
Source of hygienic ingredients and superb nutrients in bananas such as digestible carbohydrates, vitamins K and C, fiber, etc. are the main ingredients of high density combined with a formula tended towards using no animal protein and antibiotics in food, mainly using microorganisms and herbs to help control intestinal diseases, stimulate digestion, whetting the pig appetite, thus resulting in rapid growth, clean, naturally tasty, tender, flexible, delicately aromatic meat with low fat lard. Consumers are currently keenly interested in HAGL's banana-fed pigs.
Combining pigs and bananas results in cost-saving in raising pigs, so the model of farming banana fed pig not only enables the group to make effective use of raw materials, but also produce quality products at competitive prices. The selling price of HAGL's live pig products of higher quality than those of competitors is only comparable with market prices.
HAGL pigs are raised by a closed process with the main food being bananas grown for export by HAGL with the "three nos" standard: no antibiotics, no banned substances, and no animal-based protein. Pig feed uses natural herbs in place of antibiotics, helping to keep the body warm and the digestive system healthy, whetting the pig appetite, fully absorbing nutrients to increase natural disease resistance, and disease prevention. Plant protein is used as replacement like soybeans, corn supplemented with imported micronutrients. To protect consumer health, HAGL pig feed is free from weight gain substances preferring instead safe plant-based materials.
