On the afternoon of October 29, 2025, at the head office of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company (HAGL), a formal signing ceremony was held for the Technical Consultancy and Supply Contract for 30 million coffee seedlings between HAGL and the Western Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (WASI).
Leaders and representatives of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group attended the ceremony, including Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc – Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang – General Director; Ms. Vo Thi My Hanh and Ms. Ho Kim Chi – Members of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Directors; Mr. Nguyen Chi Thang – Deputy General Director in charge of projects in Laos; along with leaders from the Group’s Agricultural Operations and Media Departments.
Representing WASI, Mr. Phan Viet Ha – Acting Deputy Director, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan – Chief of Office, together with heads and deputy heads of specialized departments and the Institute’s research team, attended the ceremony.
According to the signed contract, WASI (and its affiliated unit, the Eakmat Center for Coffee Research and Technology Transfer) will supply HAGL with 30 million high-quality coffee seedlings, including Arabica and Robusta varieties recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. These seedlings are characterized by high yield potential, strong adaptability, and superior bean quality. The seedlings will be provided over two consecutive crop seasons, 2025–2026 and 2026–2027, to support HAGL’s coffee raw material areas development program in Gia Lai Province and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
In addition to supplying seedlings, WASI will also provide technical consultancy on cultivation practices, crop care, pest and disease control, and flower and fruit setting management to ensure optimal efficiency and consistent quality across all newly planted areas.
This contract represents a concrete step in implementing the comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two parties signed on August 1, 2025, marking the practical implementation phase of the agricultural cooperation program between HAGL and WASI.
Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HAGL, emphasized:
“The cooperation between HAGL and WASI — one of the world’s leading coffee research and development institutions — marks an important step in HAGL’s strategy to expand and standardize its coffee raw material areas. We do not simply grow coffee; we aim to build a well-structured, sustainable coffee industry that produces high-quality coffee for export under the HAGL brand.”

Representing WASI, Mr. Phan Viet Ha, Acting Deputy Director, stated:
“WASI has accompanied HAGL over the past six months and will continue to cooperate with HAGL throughout the entire value chain – from seedlings and technology to cultivation practices – with the goal of developing a high-yield and sustainable coffee production model in the Central Highlands and the Lao PDR.”
The cooperation between HAGL and WASI represents a strong partnership between a business and a prestigious scientific research institute in technology transfer and the development of modern, sustainable agriculture. This cooperation model leverages the strengths of both parties — WASI’s in-depth research expertise and HAGL’s large-scale production and investment capacity. Through this partnership, HAGL and WASI aim to enhance the quality, value, and global standing of Vietnamese and Lao coffee in the international market.
